Divorce is Topic of Men’s Discussion Group

The next meeting of a men’s discussion group focusing on divorce will be held on Tues., Nov. 27, 2018 from 6:30 pm until 8 pm at the office of Safe Harbor Child Access Centers, 171 Main St. (2nd floor) in Flemington.  The group is for men who are separated, divorced, or going through a divorce.  This is a unique opportunity for men to hear from others, and to provide their own perspectives to other men who are dealing with these issues.  The program will be moderated by family law attorney William Rudnik of Gebhardt & Kiefer, P.C., certified financial planner Craig Hyldahl of R.I.C.H. Planning Group, LLC, and Carol Dvoor of Safe Harbor.  Food and beverages will be provided.  Although not required, please RSVP to Mr. Rudnik at 908-735-5161 so proper arrangements can be made for food and beverages.

The NJ State League of Municipalities 103rd Annual Conference takes place in Atlantic City on Nov. 13-15.  Richard Cushing will serve as the presider for the “Cyber Liability” session on Nov. 14, and will also speak at the “Avoiding & Defending Claims Against Local Governments” session and the William M. Cox Symposium on Nov. 15.

William Rudnik will speak about “The Present Value of Property for Equitable Distribution Purposes” at the NJ State Bar Association’s “Hot Tips in Family Law” seminar on Nov. 12.  The annual program attracts close to 200 attorneys who come to hear practical advice from experienced NJ matrimonial attorneys and retired judges.

Leslie Parikh presented a seminar on the recently implemented NJ Earned Sick Leave Law at the 2018 Warren County Clerks’ Mini Conference on Oct. 25.  Ms. Parikh is available to conduct similar seminars for other organizations and employers upon request.

Free Tax Planning Seminar:

The United Way of Hunterdon County (UWHC) will offer a free seminar entitled “2018: Tax Planning in Uncertain Times” on Oct. 23 at 8:30 AM at the UWHC Volunteer Center in Flemington.  The goal of the seminar is to help taxpayers prepare for their 2018 tax returns in consideration of recent tax law changes. Gebhardt & Kiefer was pleased to sponsor the 10th Annual 200 Club of Hunterdon and Hunterdon County Police Chiefs Association Golf Tournament on Oct. 5 at Heron Glen Golf Course.  Funds raised are allocated to the next of kin of any police officer, fire fighter, ambulance or first aid squad member who represents a Hunterdon County agency and is killed or severely injured while in the line of duty.

On July 19, Mark Chazin attended the Board of Directors meeting for the Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP).  During the meeting, the Board discussed the status of the organization’s 2018 objectives, the implementation of a new SCBP website, and the expansion of the employer toolkit to attract businesses and employees to Somerset County.  Mr. Chazin is a former chairman of the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce, which is the predecessor organization of the SCBP, and has been a member of the Board for over 25 years.  He is also an active member of the SCPB Finance Committee.

Gebhardt & Kiefer employees are once again donating school supplies in support of the United Way of Hunterdon County’s “Tools 4 School” initiative.  The firm will also contribute $1,000 to this worthy cause.  The United Way will collect donations at various Stuff-the-Bus events throughout the county. Mark Chazin, a member of the Community Relations Council for the NJ State Association of Jewish Federations, attended the organization’s Annual Meeting on July 16.  During the meeting, Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle received a recognition award for co-chairing the 2018 NJ Legislators’ Study Mission to Israel in March.  Mr. Chazin participated in that mission, which was designed to inform and educate NJ legislators and academic/community leaders about the state of affairs in Israel.

Diana Fredericks recently received a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States for her volunteer work during 2017.  She was awarded the bronze “President’s Volunteer Service Award” for giving numerous hours of her time to help others.  Congratulations, Diana, and thank you for your service to our community!
