FAMILY LAW
In the face of the enormous emotional and financial consequences associated with family issues, selecting the right law firm is critical. At Gebhardt & Kiefer, our lawyers are experienced in all aspects of family law including divorce, custody of children and parenting time, alimony, financial support of children, equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, termination of parental rights, and adoption.
Because we recognize the very personal nature of the legal issues involved in family law, we encourage a close working relationship between attorney and client. We develop a team approach by familiarizing our clients with basic legal principles and asking them to furnish us with information relevant to these principles. As decisions in family law are usually fact specific, this approach gives our clients the best chance for success based on the merits of each issue.
At Gebhardt & Kiefer our family law clients receive the best of both worlds. We offer the resources of a larger law firm, including attorney specialization, while building a level of comfort and trust with our clients. This relationship comes from being represented by an individual rather than a team of lawyers and staff members, the standard practice in the larger firms. We are prepared to approach your issues in a sensitive manner, while still aggressively and responsibly pursuing your legal rights and interests.
The partner in charge of the department, Bill Goodwin, has been certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Attorney based on his experience, peer review and successful completion of a full day examination. He limits his practice to family law issues.
The firm also provides mediation services for those couples who are interested in resolving issues between themselves without resorting to the formal litigation process.
