ADRIAN K. COUSENS

PRIMARY AREAS OF PRACTICE

Mr. Cousens primary areas of concentration are general liability insurance defense, municipal, immigration and general litigation. He has participated in litigation which includes the defense of catastrophic personal injury, Title 59 public entity/employee liability, civil rights and employment law, premises liability, and other general liability matters.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

Mr. Cousens has represented and performed services on behalf of private clients, such as trucking companies. He has also performed services for Scottsdale Insurance Company, Selective Insurance Company of America, Prudential Property & Casualty Insurance Company of New Jersey, NJ CURE Auto Insurance Company, Summit Risk Insurance Company, Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and Murdock Claims Management Corp. on behalf of corporate clients, school districts and municipalities.

Mr. Cousens appears regularly in Superior Court and Federal Court on a variety of matters, as well as Municipal Court as defense counsel.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Cousens enlisted and spent four years in the United States Air Force specializing in the Industrial Hygiene field.  Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge, he attended and graduated from Rutgers University in 1993 with a B.A. in Political Science.  While attending college and subsequently law school, Mr. Cousens worked full time as a failure analysis technician for a New Jersey semiconductor manufacturer. While attending Rutgers Law School-Newark, Mr. Cousens was a member of the Environmental Law Clinic and participated in the Pro Bono Program in the area of immigration law.  After receiving his J.D. in 1999, Mr. Cousens served as law clerk to the Honorable Donald G. Collester, Jr. in the New Jersey Appellate Division, in Morristown, New Jersey.  Mr. Cousens is admitted to the New Jersey State bar and the United States District Court for New Jersey.

PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY AFFILIATIONS

Mr. Cousens is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and Hunterdon County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Joseph Halpern-David Furman American Inn of Court and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
